Whalers Make Changes


11/26-Come March there will be some new people donning the maroon and white of the Moby Dick Whalers.

After the departure of sparkplug Catcher Jesse Fierro and hit machine Trina Taylor the Whalers announced some changes of their own. At a team barbeque, that served to lionize the squad for a for a fourth place finish in San Diego, the team announced the acquisition of veteran players Arnold Martinez, Bruce Trevthick, and Carl Smith.

Arnold Martinez, a veteran player can play the infield as well as out where, with the recent loss of Kris Morow, Trevthick gives the Whalers another experienced infielder. Carl Smith got to know the Big Fish during the San Diego Tournament as a pick up player.

"These are all players who have played with us in tornaments, " said manager Matt Florio, "so they are no stranger to Big Fish ball"

Sadly, other Whalers' regulars announced their departure, along with Morow and Taylor, Rob Steele, Robert LeBeau (close to signing with the Roughriders) and Alan Flatt will be on limited Whalers' duty next season. Few Whalers, such as Tony "Boo-Boo" Plaza have yet to announce their plans for next season.
